Senior Frontend Developer - Design Systems
Position Type: Full-time
Location: Antonijas iela 17
Working Model: Hybrid
Working hours: 09:00-18:00
We’re looking for a skilled Frontend Engineer with strong TypeScript/JavaScript experience to own and grow our design system. In this role, you'll build the shared component library, design tokens, and UI foundations that multiple product teams rely on to ship consistent, accessible, and high-quality interfaces. You'll work closely with designers, product teams, and other frontend developers, balancing design fidelity, technical scalability, and ease of adoption across teams.
Your responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain a shared design system, including reusable components, design tokens, and UI patterns.
- Translate design language and UX guidelines into scalable, well-documented, production-ready components to be used across variety of frameworks.
- Ensure visual and functional consistency across products by maintaining shared UI foundations and standards.
- Collaborate closely with designers to align design tokens, component behavior, and visual language with the overall design language.
- Partner with frontend developers across product teams to support adoption, gather feedback, and evolve the design system based on real usage.
- Take ownership of component quality, accessibility, performance, and long-term maintainability.
- Establish and document guidelines, best practices, and versioning strategy for the design system and component library.
- Identify inconsistencies and technical debt across products' UI implementations and propose pragmatic improvements.
- Stay up to date with design system, accessibility, and frontend engineering best practices, and bring relevant improvements back to the team.
What makes you a great fit:
- Strong professional experience with TypeScript/JavaScript and any framework (Reach, Angular, vue.js, etc.).
- Proven experience building or significantly contributing to a design system, component library, or shared UI platform.
- Strong understanding of design tokens, theming, and scalable component architecture.
- Meticulous attention to detail, with a track record of pixel-perfect implementation and strong visual craftsmanship.
- Solid knowledge of accessibility standards and how to build them into reusable components by default.
- Passion for modern branded UX for users across different enterprise products.
- Experience working closely with UX/UI designers and translating design specifications into flexible, reusable code.
- Ability to balance the needs of multiple product teams and stakeholders when making design system decisions.
- Strong communication and documentation skills — able to explain decisions clearly and make the design system easy to adopt.
- Good understanding of frontend architecture, code quality, testing, and long-term maintainability.
- Good English communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with tools such as Storybook or similar component documentation platforms.
- Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, including token syncing between design and code.
- Practical experience in Azure-based environments.
- Experience building reusable web components in at least one framework.
